Squamish Montessori School opened its doors in May of 2008 with three 3 year old children. It was licensed as a Group Daycare Facility.Today Squamish Montessori School encompasses Squamish Montessori Preschool for children 2.5 to 5 and Squamish Montessori Elementary School for grade K-6 aged children. In 2010 our K-6 program was awarded Independent School status by the BC Ministry of Education.
With this classification the school receives provincial funding that allows it to keep tuition as low as possible. Squamish Montessori School is committed to meeting the social, emotional, physical and intellectual needs of the child. Within the framework of AMI Montessori principles and philosophy, the school's goal is to provide each child the opportunity to develop to their full potential, in a safe, loving, and affirming environment.
Following closely to the Montessori form of education, having an incredible staff, and with strong support from Squamish families, Squamish Montessori School will have over 110 students as of September 2014. The School is currently located in the central part of town (42000 Loggers Lane) across from Brennan Park Recreation Centre. Visit our website www.smsed.ca and visit the school!
