Garbage & Recycling Collection

The District of Squamish has a contract with Carney's Waste Systems to provide bi-weekly curbside residential garbage/recycling pick-up service within the District of Squamish.
Residents are provided with two 65-gallon totes. Grey lid garbage totes will be collected every other week and blue lid recycling totes the alternate week.

Collection Schedule
Monday: Downtown; Dentville; Government Road to Mamquam Bridge.
Tuesday: Valleycliffe; Hospital Hill; Stawamus Reserve; Shannon Estates; Timber Town Trailer Court.
Wednesday: Britannia Beach; Garibaldi Estates
Thursday: Garibaldi Highlands; Cheekye Area
Friday: Brackendale
All garbage totes shall be accessible to the refuse collector between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on refuse collection days.
Household garbage is to be put in the totes with grey lids and recycling in the totes with blue lids, both provided by Carney’s. If you do not have one please contact Carney’s.
Garbage and recycling are picked up on alternating weeks. Please view the schedule for your area.
Waste is collected from the totes using a specially truck equipped which automatically picks up and empties the totes.

Squamish Landfill
The Landfill is located on Landfill Road in the Brackendale neighbourhood. (off Highway 99 opposite Alice Lake turnoff).
The Landfill is open between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. 7 days a week. Phone: 604.892.5604
Sanitary Landfill Tipping Fees
- For permitted household refuse as defined in this bylaw:$80.00/tonne
- For permitted refuse as defined in this bylaw: $80.00/tonne
- For each tire mounted on a rim: $25.00
- For Gypsum Board (Drywall): $140.00/tonne (min $5.00 charge)
- Household or commercial appliances: $10.00 each
- Tires: $4.00 each. or $185.00/tonne
- Land clearing debris: $80.00/tonne (min $5.00 charge)
Curbside Recycling
The District of Squamish offers co-mingled recycling. This means there is no sorting required. Everything can go in the recycling totes with the exception of plastic bags and shredded paper (which should be bagged separately). Please do not bundle, bag or otherwise contain your recyclables.
Recycling materials for curbside pick-up include cardboard, boxboard, mixed papers, plastic (rigid #’s 1 – 5 and plastic bags) and domestic metals (tin and aluminum cans). Glass will not be part of the recycling program. A glass bin is set up at 38950 Queensway (Carney’s Waste System).

Do not place glass in with your recycling as broken glass mixed with the paper products significantly contaminates the recycling efforts of all. Return glass for a refund where applicable or drop non-refundable glass containers to 38950 Queens Way, Recycle Centre at Carney's Waste Systems - Monday - Saturday 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
