Trails

The District of Squamish is home to an extensive network of single-use and multi-purpose trails for walking, hiking, biking, dirt biking, and horseback riding.

The diverse trail network that has been built by volunteers and community groups.

Adopt-a-Trail

One of the District's exciting new initiatives is the Adopt-a-Trail program. The purpose of the Adopt-a-Trail Program is to provide opportunities for partnerships with the community in keeping our extensive trail network clean and safe.

The District of Squamish has a diverse trail network that has been built by volunteers and community groups. The trails range from single-track mountain biking to a leisurely stroll around Nexen beach with everything else in between.

The District wants to recognize these efforts and maintain the existing network and plan for the future. The District realizes that trails represent and provide many benefits to the community.

Sea to Sky Trail/Trans Canada Trail

The Sea to Sky Trail/Trans Canada Trail embodies the concept of a coordinated trail network through the Corridor. A single, visionary trail that links the communities between Squamish at the northern end of Howe Sound and D’Arcy at the south end of Anderson Lake will provide the backbone for the Corridor trail network. A trail that passes through multiple jurisdictions including various municipalities, Provincial Parks, Crown land, and others, provides an exceptional opportunity for coordinated trail management.

The Corridor Trail

Image of Corridor Trail

The Corridor Trail when completed will be a nine-kilometre commuter trail in Squamish that runs from the Stawamus Chief Apron parking lot to Depot Road. The trail will be three meters wide with a hard packed surface trail. The Corridor Trail will link neighbourhoods together and allow for a green alternative for Squamish citizens to access shopping, the recreation centre, and playing fields through to the town centre.

There are three sections to the trail. Section One starts at the Stawamus Parking lot to the Squamish Adventure Centre. Section Two continues from the Squamish Adventure Centre to Mamquam Road and Section Three from Garibaldi Way to Depot Road. Each new section will be immediately useful as a transportation route between neighbourhoods and communities. The trail also serves as a valuable recreational amenity for local residents, and will become a significant destination tourism attraction. Interpretive signage en route will enhance the cultural and environmental experience.

Segment two of Corridor Trail is complete. Work on segments one and three is underway.

The Corridor Trail will also form a part of a National and Regional Trail system in our community: the Trans Canada Trail and the Sea to Sky Trail, respectively.
