Council Meetings & Decisions
Council Meeting Procedures
Regular Business Meetings of Council are held on the first and third Tuesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. A complete copy of the Regular Council Meeting agenda package is available for viewing at Municipal Hall on the Friday afternoon preceding the Tuesday meeting and may be viewed on the District of Squamish website. Regular Council, Committee of the Whole and most Special Council Meetings are open to the general public.
Special Council Meetings are held at other times as required. Special 'In Camera' Closed Council meetings are closed to the general public and are held for Council to discuss items related to personnel, legal proceedings or property negotiations.
Committee of the Whole meetings are held as needed, generally in the afternoon on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month.
Anyone who would like Council to consider an issue must submit a written request providing all relevant details. Requests are to be addressed to Mayor and Council, District of Squamish. If the applicant wishes to attend to speak on the issue, this must be stated in the written request.
Council may issue a proclamation to recognize a non-profit organization or charitable organization or cause on a specific day, week or month that has District-wide importance to Squamish.
The District of Squamish Procedure Bylaw requires a local representative to attend the Council meeting at which time Council will consider the proclamation. Delegations are permitted up to five minutes per proclamation request.
For a proclamation request, please contact the Legislative Services Department at 604.815.5005 or by email.
