BC Hydro issues spill notification for Daisy Lake Dam discharge

January 28, 2016, 12:30 p.m. - BC Hydro has issued a Spill Notice alerting to a discharge of higher volumes of water from the Daisy Lake Dam, due to continuing high inflows over the next 24 hours.

Rapid increases in water levels within the next 24 hours are possible. Residents downstream of Daisy Lake Dam, including those in Paradise Valley, should use additional caution around rivers and streams, and be aware that levels may increase quickly and without warning. There is the potential for bankfull (top of river bank) conditions. (If flows were to increase to overbank flooding, BC Hydro would issue a Flood Alert notification).

For water level information, please call the BC Hydro Local Water Level Information Line at 604.892.6520

The District of Squamish is monitoring the situation and is in close contact with BC Hydro, taking any precautionary measures necessary. We will continue to post new information as it becomes available.
