Stawamus Chief in Squamish rock slide

(SQUAMISH, BC, April 19 1 p.m.) - A rock slide has occurred on the Stawamus Chief in Squamish at approximately 11:50 a.m. Sunday morning, April 19.

The rock slide location is in the North Walls area of the north peak in the vicinity of the route called Northern Lights.

An initial geotechnical engineering assessment has been completed.

First responders are actively trying to account for anyone who may be unaccounted for.

There is no impact to Highway 99. Mamquam Forest Service Road has been closed at Highway 99 and at Cherry Drive.
