Chili Thom, renowned local artist, has died

The District of Squamish is deeply saddened by the news that beloved Sea-to-Sky artist, Chili Thom, has passed away.

This is a tremendous loss for the entire Sea to Sky community.

"Chili's artistic influence was profound and perhaps unsurpassed here In Squamish, where he had his studio for many years," says District of Squamish Mayor Patricia Heintzman. "He captured, in his unique, vibrant and sometimes provocative way the Corridor like no other. He was prolific. He was such a unique and enigmatic artist, he had so much more to express and share. I, like so many people from Whistler to Squamish and beyond, will miss his ready, contagious smile."

Thom's The Sound We Want, was painted as a mural during the Squamish Wind Festival in Downtown Squamish (pictured left). Thom, along with graphic artist Kristen Dillon, created the 2012 Downtown street banners (pictured right).
