District of Squamish and CUPE 2269 ratify new Collective Agreement

The District of Squamish is pleased to announce ratification of a new Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 2269. The parties reached tentative agreement on April 22, 2016, and have since each ratified the tentative agreement in separate processes.

The agreement has a term of four years from 2016 to 2019 and includes moderate wage increases of: 1.5% (2016), 1.5% (2017), 2% (2018), and 2% (2019).

“Our dedicated and talented employees are at the core of the services we deliver to the community,” says Mayor Patricia Heintzman. “Managing costs and creating a work environment that fosters highly engaged staff who deliver outstanding service to the community is paramount in Council’s mind, and we are pleased to ratify this new agreement that sees both sides satisfied with the results.”

“By receiving a record amount of completed surveys back, our members gave us clear direction on issues that were important to them,” says CUPE 2269 President, Wendy Shard.  “We feel that the agreement negotiated with the District of Squamish is fair to both parties and the community; this was reflected by the support our members gave during the ratification process.”

The 2016 to 2019 Collective Agreement is now in effect, dating back to January 1, 2016 and expiring December 31, 2019.
