Locals’ information released on what to expect during Squamish Valley Music Festival

The District of Squamish and Squamish Valley Music Festival organizers has developed information to share with the community to help locals navigate around during the upcoming Festival, taking place August 7 to 10, 2014.

Whether attending the Festival or not, there is valuable information contained within to help locals get a grasp on such things as: when peak traffic periods can be expected, how to best soak up the atmosphere (or avoid it), what areas of town will be busiest and when, hours of operation of the Festival etc.

The Squamish Valley Music Festival has created a Community page, available as a link from the homepage of their website at squamishfestival.com

The District has also prepared a Community Info page to complement the Festival’s information. Both pages are available as a link from Squamish.ca/svmf

“Our town is hosting a festival that’s becoming one of the pre-eminent music festivals in North America,” says District of Squamish Mayor Rob Kirkham. “This is a milestone moment for our community as the spotlight is on Squamish and we welcome the world to our doorstep. We are so proud of the beauty of our town, the amazing business community, and the friendly nature of our locals. Let’s welcome everyone Squamish-style, and be great ambassadors for our town.”

It goes without saying that bringing thousands of visitors to town for a three-day music festival does not come without an impact, and this information is designed to help the community plan accordingly. “Thank you in advance to the community for all your extra patience during this time,” continues the Mayor.

Feedback is always welcome and will be shared and discussed in debrief meetings in September. Please call the District at 604-892-5217 or send us an email through our Contact and Feedback page.

The Squamish Valley Music Festival’s Help Centre will also be open throughout the Festival at 604-390-0814 or info@squamishfestival.com
