Rising water levels expected in local rivers resulting from Daisy Lake Dam discharge

October 24, 2014 UPDATE:

BC Hydro has cancelled its Spill Notification and stopped the increased flow of water downstream from the Daisy Lake dam.  Please continue to exercise caution around streams and rivers, as all waterways are running high with the rain.

October 22, 2014

Due to intense rainfall in the region, BC Hydro has issued a Spill Release Notice for Daisy Lake Dam. Beginning at 11:00 a.m. today, BC Hydro began increasing the downstream flow of water from the Dam.

The District of Squamish is monitoring the situation and taking precautionary measures.

At this point in time, residents downstream of Daisy Lake Dam, including those in Paradise Valley, should use caution around rivers and streams, and be aware that levels may increase quickly and without warning.

The District will continue to provide updated information as we monitor the situation.

Any residents who have concerns should contact Alexis Kraig, Emergency Program Coordinator, at (604) 815-5060 or by email.
