2016 - Active Transportation Projects - COMPLETED

As part of the Active Transportation Plan and Safe Routes to School Planning, a series of road and sidewalk improvement projects are planned. The first set of projects is scheduled for 2016 and includes improvements for pedestrian, cyclists and transit users with four intersection upgrades and two bus shelters.

Perth Drive between The Boulevard and Thunderbird Drive:
(scheduled to begin the week of September 26)

  • additional sidewalk
  • bus pull out
  • bus shelter
  • bike lane with green paint in the conflict area
  • pedestrian crosswalk improvements including raised concrete island and lighting

Portree Way at Highlands Way North:

  • raised concrete island with pedestrian crosswalk improvements
  • realignment of 3-way stop

Queens Way at Government Road:

  • raised concrete islands
  • protected Northbound bike lane
  • pedestrian improvements
  • bus shelter
  • crosswalk improvements

Traffic impact:

Please expect delays near the work zones. The District is working with HASTe to communicate safe routes for students.

Timeframe:

Work is scheduled to get underway the week of September 26 and is expected to be completed by January 2017.
