Economic Development Review and Action Plan

The District of Squamish in partnership with Economic Growth Solutions Inc. (EGS) has completed the Economic Development Review and Action Plan, intended to coordinate economic development activity in the District in the coming years. EGS and the District developed the document in conjunction with a Task Force of local subject matter experts and those with an interest in economic development, and hosted a number of focus groups and an online survey early in 2016. EGS also conducted an extensive review of existing documents that addressed economic development issues, including:

  • Official Community Plan
  • Branding, Development and Marketing Action Plan
  • District of Squamish Business Retention and Expansion Program Interview Results 2015
  • Employment Lands Strategy
  • Squamish Knowledge Based Industry Report
  • Squamish Retail and Commercial Industrial Report
  • Squamish Tourism and Investment Attraction Strategies
  • Squamish Wood Product Report

The final document was approved by Council at its September 13th meeting and is now available for public review.  The District is now organizing and recruiting the necessary staff to start implementing the actions outlined in the document.

If you have any comments or questions about the document, please contact the project manager, Gary Buxton at gbuxton@squamish.ca or 604.815.6870.
