Starting your own Business

The District of Squamish's objective is to provide necessary information and to promote growth and success for residents and non-residents who are starting businesses in Squamish. A Business Licence is required to regulate the carrying on of businesses within the District of Squamish.

Before applying for your business licence

We recommend registering your business before applying for your business licence because you may require other permits or licences that the District of Squamish does not regulate, depending on the type of business you are operating.  Examples may include Health Department or Motor Carrier Branch approvals.

BizPaL is an innovative online service that allows business clients to easily generate a customized list of permits and licences required by the three levels of government - local, provincial and federal - simply by providing some generic information about the business.

Finding out which government requirements apply to a certain business type can be time consuming and frustrating. BizPaL was created to help identify what you may require, quickly and easily. The information you need is available from a single source; entrepreneurs spend less time dealing with red - saving effort and money in the process - and more time building their business. Please click on the BizPaL link on the upper right to visit the site.

This service is the result of strong collaboration between the Government of Canada and participating provincial/territorial, regional, and municipal governments
