Squamish Service Skills Training

Thanks to a new partnership together with the Squamish Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Squamish, we’re launching a series of workforce training programs that are uniquely designed for Squamish businesses. Expect training programs for all levels of employees in the community, including front-line customer service staff, managers and executives. The program will help enhance employee engagement which has a direct impact on employee retention statistics and productivity.

To launch the program, we're offering our first session just in time for the summer season, on Frontline Communication. The training is open to all Squamish businesses.

Topic: Frontline Communication: Business Skills and Workforce Training (Part One)

Business Skills and Workforce Frontline Communication training is about building great relationships with your community, and knowing how to resolve conflicts quickly and professionally if they emerge. This interactive training session will empower you and your team with actionable, easy-to-recall techniques that will help you to become more effective communicators, expand your awareness, and provide you with a more focused approach to communication and conflict resolution.

 What you'll learn:

  • How being a good H.O.S.T sets the foundation for Squamish business success

  • Brand reputation: Understanding the advantage and/or damage potential you can impact

  • Mirroring communication styles: How to quickly assess and adjust in the moment

  • Listening: How to use active listening as a customer service strategy 

  • Reading non-verbal cues and tone: How to become more effective at both

  • Powerful questions: When to use them and how they help when communicating

 

Meet your Facilitator

Christine McLeod has been leading teams, developing training and managing business operations in the Sea to Sky corridor for over 20 years. She offers leadership expertise and facilitation to both
small and large businesses with a mission of inspiring everyday leadership at all levels in the Squamish community. With a background in retail, hospitality, tourism, and customer facing operations, Christine has been recognized locally and nationally for her innovative programs and visionary leadership. She has called Squamish home for over 13 years and Whistler prior to that for 11 years. When she is not developing unique programs for business she can be found bringing that same passion and innovation to Squamish Elementary and Ecole les Aiglons PACs, the Squamish BMX club and after school leadership programming for young Squamish leaders.
