A Supplemental Application has now been submitted by the proponent to the Environmental Assessment Office (EAO), which contains additional information that the EAO directed the proponent to prepare.

The public are invited to submit comments on the Supplemental Application during a 45-day public comment period which began on May 8, 2015 and will end on June 22, 2015. 

The Environmental Assessment Office invites the public to attend an Open House on the Supplemental Application. The Open House will be held at:
  • Executive Suites Hotel & Resort, 40900 Tantalus Rd., Squamish, B.C.
  • May 21, 2015
  • 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Project Information

Garibaldi at Squamish Inc. (Proponent) is proposing to construct and operate an all-seasons destination ski resort at Brohm Ridge near Squamish, BC. The Garibaldi at Squamish Project would have 23 ski lifts on 124 developed ski trails. In addition both private and commercial accommodations are planned.

The proposed Project is subject to review under British Columbia’s Environmental Assessment Act.

The Proponent must obtain an environmental assessment certificate before any work can be undertaken on the proposed Project. On June 10, 2010, the Minister of Environment and then Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts made a decision to require additional information from the Proponent after considering the environmental assessment review led by BC’s Environmental Assessment Office (EAO). EAO has directed the Proponent to submit additional information and a supplemental application before the Ministers of Environment and Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations can make a decision on whether or not to issue an environmental assessment certificate.

On October 7, 2014, the Environmental Assessment Office (EAO) issued the final Supplemental Application Information Requirements (SAIR) for the Garibaldi at Squamish Project proposed by Garibaldi at Squamish Inc.(Proponent). The SAIR specifies the information that must be included in the Supplemental Application for an environmental assessment certificate. The SAIR is posted to EAO’s website at The proponent submitted the Supplemental Application which was posted to the EAO's website on April 30, 2015.
