Need something fixed?

Bring your broken item to the Repair Café where our skilled volunteers will help you with the repair - for free!

What to bring:

Whether it's missing buttons, a crooked stool, a broken photo frame or jewelry with a wacky clasp, bring it to the Repair Café! Over tea and a muffin, skilled volunteers will help you through the repair for free!

What to Bring:

The Fall Repair Café will have fixers who can help with the following areas/items:

  1. Sewing and mending of clothes, patching holes and tears, sewing on buttons, restitching
  2. Bike repairs and tune-ups
  3. Ski maintenance station (edge sharpening and waxing)
  4. General carpentry (furniture, wooden toys and games)
  5. Small appliances and electronics
  6. Eyecare

Our volunteers will do their best to help with any and all repairs!

How to Volunteer:

Can you sew, mend or fix small appliances? Are you skilled at repairing jewelry, small furniture, or toys? Would you like to teach people how to repair their items in a relaxed and fun atmosphere? We are seeking volunteer fixers for our upcoming event. Please contact Laura at zerowaste@squamish.ca  to lend a hand.

Our volunteer fixers are the backbone of the program. Without them, the Repair Café would not be possible.

What is a Repair Café?

Repair Cafés are free meeting places for repairing things (together). At the Repair Café you will find the expertise, tools and materials required to help you make many of the repairs you need. Volunteer fixers will be on hand to help and guide the repairs. You can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee or even lend a hand with someone else’s repair job.

A Repair Café is not a place to drop off your items to be fixed and picked-up at a later time. We request that you stay on-site while your item is being repaired. Visit repaircafe.org to learn more.

Goals of the Repair Café:

1. To bring back repair into local society in a modern way;

2. To maintain repair expertise and to spread this knowledge;

3. To promote social cohesion in the local community by connecting neighbours from very different backgrounds and with different motives through an inspiring and low-key event.

The Repair Café is brought to you in partnership by the District of Squamish and Squamish CAN (Climate Action Network).

    A big thank you to the three wonderful volunteers who helped me out on Saturday May 6,2023. They exceeded all expectations and then some. I had a coat remade into a jacket, two pair of pants hemmed and one pair of slacks repaired ( broken zipper, torn pockets etc). Words cannot express how grateful I am. These clothing items have been sitting in my closet for over seven years and now are completely wearable.
    Kindest regards
    Ida

    What a wonderful idea!! I am an older single female that does occasionally need a handyman/woman for small tasks of which I have no skill. Prime example: I pulled the wire to unplug my iron and it started sparking. I would have thrown the iron out however found someone to replace the plug, good as new for another twenty years :)
