Checking in on Child Care

Access to affordable, accessible and high-quality child care spaces remains a complex and challenging issue for Squamish families and caregivers, and one that cannot be easily remedied. Please join Mayor Karen Elliott, Acting Mayor John French, District of Squamish Planner Sarah McJannet along with local child care resource and agency partners for a special evening virtual Mayor's Drop-In on Thursday, May 13 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in honour and awareness of May as Child Care Month. Learn about Squamish child care needs and targets, local planning and actions to date, and discuss focusing and accelerating joint efforts to address the profound need for child care. Parents, caregivers, child-care providers and early childhood educators, employers and residents are all invited to engage on childcare-related opportunities and challenges, towards generating childcare solutions necessary for a strong social and economic foundation for the community. For more about local child care initiatives visit squamish.ca/childcare.
