The Stawamus Chief

The Stawamus Chief’s granite cliffs tower over 700 metres above the southern entrance of Squamish. The Provincial Park surrounding it was established in 1997 and features hiking, camping, rock climbing, and wildlife viewing.

The Chief, the second largest granite monolith in the world, attracts climbers from around the world to tackle its formidable front face. On the backside, The Chief’s steep hiking trails reward those who make the trek to one of its three summits with spectacular views of Squamish, Howe Sound and the surrounding mountains.
