Tote safety: If you need to reach into your tote for any reason, please ensure that the tote will not roll away from you and that the lid is opened fully.

A variety of co-mingled materials are accepted in the curbside recycling totes, including  cardboard, boxboard, mixed papers, plastic containers and domestic metals (tin and aluminum cans).

Residents are provided with a 246 litre (65 gal) tote for recycling. GFL Environmental (604.892.5604) can provide a larger tote size at an additional cost.

Tips for proper recycling:

  • Do not bundle, bag or otherwise contain your recyclables, with the exception of shredded paper which can be contained in a separate paper bag within the tote.
  • Containers must be clean and rinsed in order to be recycled.
  • Remove the lids from containers and put them loose in your recycle tote.
  • Glass, styrofoam, plastic bags and overwrap/film are not part of the curbside recycling program. All styrofoam and plastic bags, overwrap/film and any glass that cannot be returned for a refund can be dropped off at GFL Environmental Recycling Centre or the Squamish Landfill.
  • Glass and other items that can be returned for a refund can be taken to the Bottle Depot
  • Tote safety: If you need to reach into your tote for any reason, please ensure that  the tote will not roll away from you and that the lid is opened fully.
