Services and Training

  • Fire Suppression: We provide fire suppression services throughout the District of Squamish improving community safety.

  • First Responder / Medical Calls: We work closely with and support local BCAS crews to ensure timely and effective medical services to our local community members.

  • Wild Land: We provide wild land and urban interface fire suppression services.

  • Auto Extrication: A source of pride is our quick and effective response to Sea to Sky motor vehicle incidents throughout the corridor, from Britannia Beach in the south and half way to Whistler in the north.

  • Rope / Swift Water Rescues:  We provide reliable specialized rescue services within our community.

  • Training:  Our department has been accredited by the Justice Institute of BC and Red Cross Canada to provide certification in NFPA 1001 FF1 and 2, Emergency Medical Assistant / FR.  We also work closely with our training partners Raven Rescue and the IAFF to provide technical rescue and Hazmat training.    

  • Fire Inspections: All commercial and multi-family buildings in the District are inspected by our Fire Prevention Office to ensure they meet all necessary fire safety regulations.

  • Fire Investigations:  All fires within the District of Squamish are investigated to determine the cause, and help us in creating prevention strategies in our inspection and public education departments. 

  • Public Education:  Annually, we partner with School District 48 to visit our local elementary students and deliver fire safety programs to Kindergarten through Grade Four.  The goal of these visits is to create lifelong fire safety habits, and to empower young people in becoming fire safety advocates within their communities.
