Separate Property Tax & Utilities Notices
Starting this year, Property Tax and Utilities notices will be mailed individually to property owners. The deadline to pay 2023 Property Taxes and Utilities without penalty is Tuesday, July 4, 2023.
New Utility Account Numbers
Utility account numbers are increasing from 5 to 7 digits. If you pay through online banking, please be sure to update the account number before making your payment.
Online Property Tax Portal & Access Code
We are working toward the launch of an Online Property Tax Portal. The Access Code printed on the front of your tax notice will be the Access Code used to log in to your online property tax account when the Online Property Tax Portal is ready. We anticipate a new system launch by end of this year.
2023 Property Taxes and Utilities are due July 4, 2023.
A 5% penalty will be added to any amount outstanding after July 4, 2023, including property taxes, utilities, and home owner grant (if eligible). A second 5% penalty will be added to amounts outstanding after July 31, 2023.
Property owners are responsible for payment of property taxes regardless of whether or not a notice is received. If you have not received a notice, please contact Financial Services at 604.815.5035 or 604.815.5010.
New owners should ensure taxes are paid on their property. If there is any doubt, please contact the Property Tax Department at 604.815.5035 or 604.815.5010.
Penalty & Interest
A 5% penalty will be added to any amount outstanding after July 4, 2023, including any unclaimed Home Owner Grant. A second 5% penalty will be applied after July 31, 2023.
Daily Interest Rates are set by the province each quarter and applied directly to your outstanding arrears and delinquent property tax amounts.
The Home Owner Grant reduces the amount of property tax you pay for your principal residence.
Learn more on the Province of British Columbia's Home Owner Grant web page.
A home owner 55 years or over, a widow/widower, persons with disabilities as defined in the Disability Benefits Program Act, or families with children under 18 years of age may be able to defer their taxes on their principal residence through a program whereby the provincial government makes payment on their behalf.
