Important Updates

After nearly two years, closed areas at Brennan Park Recreation Centre are open again!

A few upgrades are still being finished, including wayfinding signage, furniture, and coffee shop.

75% of the upgrades took place behind the scenes; hidden in walls, ceilings and mechanical rooms. Big improvements, even if they are not visible!

Thank you for your patience through the noise, dust, and detours — we really appreciate it!

We were fortunate to receive $11.7 million in grant funding via the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings program from the federal and provincial governments. The grant was awarded for very specific upgrades including energy efficiency and accessibility improvements. This is the first of many projects anticipated for Brennan Park and we look forward to continued enhancement of this important facility.

How Recreation Supports Your Child

  • Engaging the participant in a conversation.

  • Asking open ended question to discover how they are feeling.

  • Determining why they are feeling the way they are.

  • Brainstorming solutions together.

  • Incorporating their ideas.

  • Creating a plan.

You know your child best. Our team may connect with you to discuss your child’s experience when:

·         We would like information on how to best support your child’s specific needs

·         Your child has had repeated challenging moments

·         Disrespectful behavior has affected the experience of others

·         Safety has become a concern

·         Inappropriate language has been directed at others

Please note:
Staff are unable to provide personal care such assistance with toileting, administering medication or changing.

In the event the leadership team feels a participant is not able to be successful after implementing support strategies, they may be removed from the programs.

Examples include:

  • not following camp rules and guidelines.
  • running away from the group.
  • inappropriate language.
  • physical violence.
  • being disrespectful of others.
