COVID-19 Safety Plans

We want to make sure you are aware of the new Provincial Health Officer Order (PHO) that is in effect as of yesterday and until December 7 and how it affects Recreation Services User Groups.  There will be updated guidelines coming in the next week or two from the PHO which may change what we need to do.  Until those are published, these are the new requirements:

Games, competitions and practices (viaSport Phase 3 criteria) can continue with no spectators and no travel.

No spectators are allowed at any sport activities under the order:

  • This is for both inside and outside activities.

In the spirit of the PHO Order, we ask that you all reinforce with your parents and participants the importance of NOT socializing before / during / after your rental times.

We feel this is a very critical component of all of us being able to get to Phase 4 and avoiding a return to Phase 2.

Travel to, from and between communities for athletic activities like games, competitions, training and practice is prohibited under this order:

  • This means individuals / teams cannot travel to / from Squamish to participate in your rental.
  • The one exception to this is high performance athletes who qualify for an exemption.
  • It is each organization’s responsibility to ensure they are meeting viaSport / their PSO (Provincial Sport Organization) requirements in regards to a coach’s ability to travel to coach.

Masks are mandatory in all public indoor settings and workplaces:

  • People who cannot put on or remove a mask on their own are exempt:
  • If you have a participant who qualifies for this exemption, please contact us at least 48 hrs before your arrival.
  • This way we can ensure Door Greeters are aware so there is no delay in your group’s entry.
  • We do not need to know why the individual is exempt, just that there will be one individual without a mask and that you have a plan for how to ensure they maintain a minimum 2m distance from others in the general lobby areas.
  • During your sport rental, masks on participants are not required on ice / in pool.
  • During your sport rental, masks on coaches / Safety Representatives / volunteers are required in all areas except in as approved by viaSport / your PSO with 2m distancing being maintained.

If the travel restriction means you need to cancel some of your bookings now to December 7, please email bookings@squamish.ca the days / times you would like cancelled and a full credit will be applied to your account.
