Camp FAQ

We are so excited to welcome your child back to Brennan Park this winter in a safe and fun environment.

Please note, Brennan Park Recreation Centre is not currently open to the public for in-person registration inquiries.


How many spots are being offered?

The number of available spots will remain the same as in previous years, however they’re going to look and feel a bit different.  All camps are programmed to take place indoors, however, campers will be going outside daily rain, snow or shine. While inside, physical distancing measures are in place.

What precautions are you taking to prevent illness and the potential spread of COVID-19?

  • Campers will be grouped into cohorts of six children + one leader.
  • Cohorts will follow proper physical distancing protocol and will intermingle with children in one other cohort for some activities.
  • Physical distancing will be at all times.
  • The sharing of equipment and supplies will be limited wherever possible, and will be thoroughly cleaned after each use.
  • Supervised hand washing before and after each activity, and before and after each meal will take place.
  • Daily health screenings is mandatory for all staff.

Camp Leaders will have safety protocols in place for check-in, lunch, washroom utilization and staff training.

Drop-off and Pick-Up:

  • Children will be divided into groups of six.The day before the camp, an email will be sent to you with the day’s activities.
  • All meeting locations will be in the gym at Brennan Park. Pick up and Drop off will be at the exterior doors to the gym.

We ask that you respect physical distancing at all times 

Late Pick-Up Fee:

  • Camp pick-up is by 4 p.m. daily.  There will be a late charge of $5 for the first 15 minutes after the end of the camp. After the first 15 minutes, a late charge of $1 per minute will be applied.

If my child becomes sick will I get a refund?

  • If your child is sick at any time during the program please keep them at home and we will provide you with a refund.
  • If your child is sick, please notify us by calling or emailing our Customer Service at 604.898.3604. 

What do I do if I need to make arrangements to pick up my child unexpectedly?

  • If you need to make arrangements to pick up your child unexpectedly, you can call our Program Coordinator at 604.898.6896 or 604.815.4932

Do you have any subsidies for families affected by COVID or on Income Assistance?
Yes. Squamish Residents who require financial assistance to participate in recreation programs will download a Recreation Access application form.

Once completed, applications will be reviewed by a 3rd party with approval by the Director of Recreations Services.

 What are the hours of the camp?

  • Camps run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Unfortunately we are not able to offer before/after care at this time.

What will a typical day look like?
All campers will experience a variety of activities that are related to the theme of the week. Days will be busy and active days combined with quiet activities to offer rest periods.

  • Arrive – games (indoors)
  • Group introductory games/review of rules/expectations
  • Outdoor Activity/Active games
  • Snack
  • Indoor Activity/craft or art project
  • Lunch
  • Outdoor Activity/craft or art project/Active Games
  • Snack
  • Wrap up games/activities/clean up

How will camps be different this fall?

  • Camps will be held outside (whenever possible). Please ensure your camper is prepared for all types of weather (rain, snow, sun and wind).
    • Please send your child with sunscreen applied, with extra sunscreen, hat, jacket, warm long sleeve, running shoes.
  • Camp programs will operate with smaller ratios of one instructor to six children.
  • Camps will operate from the Brennan Park, and will utilize trails, river areas, and parks that are within walking or biking distance

Will you accept walk-in camps?
No. All camps must be registered for in advance to maintain safe capacity & groupings or participants.

 Other Useful Information:

  • Waivers
    • New – COVID-19 Waiver: A waiver will be emailed out along with below paperwork. The waiver must be filled out, signed by both guardians, and brought on the first day of camp
    • Medical and Informed Consent Forms – Forms will be emailed out along with the Parent Information email on Friday prior to the camp. Please print, fill out and sign. Bring with you on the first day of camp
  • COVID-19:
    • All campers will be asked screening questions each morning before being admitted into camp for the day
  • Masks:
    • Masks are not required for children under the age of 12y. If you would like to your child to wear a mask, we will respectfully support your child.
    • The instructor(s) will be wearing a mask

How do I register?

  • Registration will be online only:
    • You will need your log in and password prior to registration day
    • If you have any questions, please ensure you contact us prior to registration day- September 14.
    • Please remember, Brennan Park is not open for customer service inquiries/ questions at this time should be directed to 604-898-3604 and


  • Please ensure campers bring healthy peanut and nut-free lunch and snacks that your child is able to open independently for morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack.
  • The days are long and full of activity and children are often quite hungry by the afternoon. If in doubt, please pack more than you think is necessary as there will be no snacks provided.
  • Please send your camper with a refillable water bottle.
