Programs in the Park (FREE)

The Provincial Health Officer and the Minister of Health have emphasized the importance of getting people outdoors and recreating again in a controlled and safe manner – we agree.

Squamish Recreation Services is taking a cautious and deliberate approach to creating safe community programs keeping in line with Vancouver Coastal Health, WorkSafe BC and the Provincial Ministry of Health guidelines. We ask that you help us by self-moderating you and your family’s physical distancing and not to attend if you or your child are sick.

Attendance of the programs is at the discretion of your own comfort level. We respect your decision to leave if needed.

  • Please do not arrive any earlier than 15 minutes before session and please leave promptly after.
  • Program runs for 30 minutes, rain or shine!
  • Programming may change due to participant numbers.

Programs description:

Family Fresh Air Fun (0-5y) Parent participation required!
Come and join Rec Services outside in the park for a variety of physically distant activities that will get you and your child moving in the park while enjoying some fresh air!

Play Skills (4-6y) Parent participation required! Play skills classes are designed to support the development of fundamental movement skills such as throwing, catching, running and jumping. With these skills, children have a foundation to explore and enjoy different sports and physical activities for life. Action-packed sports sessions will focus on the ABC's of Physical Literacy: Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed! 

Strength and Pole Walking (18y+) Come and join Rec Services outside in the park for a half hour of strength work with Kriszti and pole walking with Yvonne. Bring your own poles if you have them!

Cardio & Strength (18y+) This outdoor class consists of 30mins of cardio, followed by 30 mins of strengthening exercises with Kriszti! Please wear runners, comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle.

Stretch and Balance (18y+) This outdoor class consists of a variety of stretches and balancing movements with Kriszti Richterne! Please wear runners, comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle and yoga mat that you don’t mind getting dirty!
