Youth Week 2019 - Award Nominations

The recipient of each Award will be presented Monday, May 6, 2019.


On May 6, as part of Squamish Youth Week (May 6–12), the community of Squamish will celebrate the youth of our community by presenting nominated youth with a unique award. These awards will represent key areas that are not otherwise recognized elsewhere. Each award has been sponsored by an organization in our community and the Youth Week team would like to recognize these sponsors for their support and encouragement of youth in Squamish.


We are asking you to nominate the youth in our community by reviewing the categories below and filling out the nomination form. Nominations MUST be received NO LATER than April 25, 5 p.m.  All nominations will be reviewed through a process by a selection committee. Recipients and runners up will be announced at the Celebration Ceremony taking place on Monday May 6 at The 55 Activity Centre. Nominees, award recipients, family and friends and supporters of Youth Week are welcome to attend. Light refreshments and food will be provided. Youth can be nominated in more than one category but can only win one award.

Award Categories and Criteria:

Passionate Artist Award
presented by the Squamish Arts Council

  • Artist is supportive of fellow artists
  • Artist embodies creativity
  • Artist has impacted the Squamish art community
  • Artist is committed and passionate about the arts

Positive Choices Award
presented by The Squamish Breakfast Club

  • Health, nutrition and wellness are high priority to this individual
  • Teen is consciously aware of choices and their impact on themselves and others
  • Positivity and choices are admired and inspiring to others

Dedicated Athlete Award
presented by Squamish KidSport

  •  Athlete has a history with a variety of sports
  •  Athlete’s energy and enthusiasm are contagious
  •  Athlete commits countless hours to his/her sport(s)
  •  Athlete demonstrates leadership on and off the field

Devoted Musician Award

presented by the Squamish Firefighter's Association

  • Musician dedicates many hours to his/her instrument(s)
  • Musician frequently showcases his/her talent
  • Musician promotes the advancement of the Squamish music community

Selfless Citizen Award

presented by the Squamish Lions Club

  • Citizen thrives for the betterment of Squamish by thinking globally and acting locally
  • Citizen actively seeks out community service opportunities and volunteers for a variety of activities and/or organizations
  • Citizen is an advocate for local youth involvement
