Summer 2020

Get outside, ride your bike, have fun!

Through quality coaching and instruction, with a focus on safety and fun, riders age 7-13 years will develop their mountain biking skills, confidence, and love of the sport.

Basic biking skills are required as this program takes riding 'off-road' and onto the trails where we’ll find rocks, roots, loose gravel, dirt, and other obstacles.

Riders are grouped according to ability and will explore off-road trails specific to their level of riding.

Squamish Bike Coaches are PMBI certified and follow the COVID-19 best practices. For more information check out the following link:

https://pmbia.org/2020/05/15/guideline-best-practices-mountain-bike-instructors-guides-operators-covid-19/

Please note that camps are not ‘learn to bike’ programs. Competency riding green level trail and ability to ride uphill and downhill are required. Front/back hand brakes and gears are mandatory. All riders require a helmet and fully functioning, proper fitting mountain bike.

We have a 1:5 instructor to child ratio.

Co-Ed ride
Riders will develop their mountain biking skills in a fun and safe environment while being supported by their coaches and peers. We will explore a variety of trails that are appropriate for the groups’ overall riding ability.
Suitable for male and female riders.

GIRLS ride
This program encourages young female and transgendered riders to build their self-confidence and skills while challenging themselves through mountain biking in a fun, supportive, and safe environment. We will explore a variety of trails that are appropriate for the groups’ overall riding ability.

Community Grant Available!

Did you know that if a girl hasn’t participated in sport by the age of 10, there is only a 10% chance that she will be physically active as an adult!?

The District of Squamish Recreation Services has been awarded a community grant for Gender Equity in Recreational Sport. This opportunity was granted in part by the Government of Canada and the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA). The CPRA supports community level interventions to increase participation and retention of females in recreational sports across Canada.

Recreation Services is supporting this initiative by offering reduced program fees to eligible participants in our Squamish Bike Camps & Girls Ride programs. To learn more, please contact our bike camps coordinator at bikecamps@squamish.ca or call 604.898.3604.
