The District of Squamish is following the Vancouver Coastal Health recommendation of providing cooling centres to support Squamish residents during heat events. Cooling centres will be open at Brennan Park Recreation Centre (Lobby) and The 55 Activity Centre from Monday, July 25 through Friday, July 29.

Squamish Public Library: open to the public on Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday though Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Squamish Transit continues to be offered to all residents as a free service and residents without access to a vehicle can use transit to access the cooling centres.
The new BC Heat Alert and Response System (BC HARS) two-level alert system defines the criteria used to issue a Heat Warning (Level 1) or Extreme Heat (Level 2) public health messaging.
When a Heat Warning or Extreme Heat alert is in effect, the public is advised to decrease the risk of heat illness by spending time in cool spaces. The District of Squamish is one of several cities and towns within the Vancouver Coastal Health region that provides cooling centres in an effort to support residents during heat events.
