Council invites community to Meet & Greet evening to introduce Strategic Plan and proposed 2019 budget

District of Squamish Council is hosting a casual Meet & Greet evening to mingle with citizens, share the newly-minted Strategic Plan that defines Council’s goals for the four-year term, and invite attendees to weigh in on the proposed 2019 budget. The Meet & Greet will take place February 20, 2019 between 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. at The Ledge Community Coffee House, 38055 Cleveland Avenue, Downtown Squamish.

“Council is excited to share our 2019-2022 Strategic Plan for our term with the broader community, and so we hope people will come out and say hello,” says District of Squamish Mayor Karen Elliott. “This is a chance for the community to get to know their Council in an informal setting, while taking the opportunity to learn about the Plan, weigh in on the 2019 proposed budget, or ask about something that has been on their mind. We’re really looking forward to hosting this!”

The evening will feature various stations that showcase the four priority areas of the Strategic Plan, and the General Fund and Utilities breakdown of the proposed 2019 budget. Council will mingle through the stations to share information, answer questions and listen to citizen feedback. District staff will also be available to provide insights into budgeted projects.

Activities for children will be provided and light refreshments will be available. The event is drop-in style; there is no official presentation. RSVPs are not required.

Comment boxes will be available for citizens to leave feedback.

In advance of the event, proposed 2019 budget information is available via an online interactive tool at Squamish.ca/budget, and on display boards at Brennan Park Recreation Centre, The 55 Activity Centre and Municipal Hall.

For those unable to make the Meet & Greet event, budget feedback can also be shared with Council by emailing budgetfeedback@squamish.ca, or by completing a comment card located by the display boards in the above District facilities.
