Facilities Update: temporary removal of portable toilets, improved access to washroom and shower facilities

As part of the District’s ongoing effort to provide access to essential services while supporting COVID-19 Public Health risk reduction recommendations, we are making the following changes:

Opening the changerooms and shower facilities at Brennan Park Recreation Centre
To assist those in our community without access to shower facilities, Brennan Park will be open daily from Monday- Friday during the following times to support up to five individuals at a time, free of charge.

  •  7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
  •  4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Physical distancing and increased sanitation procedures will be in place.

Opening the washrooms at Junction Park in downtown Squamish
The washrooms in Junction Park will be open for day use. Increased sanitation procedures will be in place.

Removing portable toilets temporarily
Given our current operating environment during the COVID-19 response, we do not have the operational resources to provide the additional required cleaning nor can we ensure a steady supply of hand sanitizer to keep the portable toilets sanitized. We are focusing on increased cleaning and sanitation for the public washrooms listed above. The portable toilets will be removed temporarily from the locations listed below and we will reevaluate on an ongoing basis.

  • Galbraith / Nexen
  • Eagle View
  • Fisherman’s Park / Judd Beach
  • Boulevard Water Tower / Skate Bowl
  • All weather field (turf)
  • Adventure (trail) hubs
  • Hendrickson Fields
  • Skate Park / Carson Place
