District of Squamish to offer free transit through Labour Day

Today, BC Transit has shared this news release announcing that transit will resume on Wednesday, June 22. The District of Squamish is pleased to share that the following fare reductions will be offered to encourage riders back to transit and recognize the hardship caused by the strike:

“I am grateful that the parties found a way to come together in the end and that we can relaunch bus service,” says District of Squamish Mayor Karen Elliott. “Transit service is essential because it connects people to their work, appointments, school, events and each other. We hope our regular riders return to riding the bus and that the reduction in costs until the end of 2022 will encourage others to take the bus for some of their trips around town.”

Fare reductions are being supported by operational costs saved during the strike.
