Here's a look at the Curbside Tune-up results and materials that should not go in your recycling tote

More than 2,600 recycling and organics totes were inspected over four separate weeks during the Curbside Tune-Up visual inspections throughout Squamish neighbourhoods. Recycle Champion stickers were put on 201 totes where no contamination materials were present. 

Here are some of the most common items found in recycling totes that should be disposed of elsewhere:

Refundable bottles can be returned to the beverage

store or Encorp Bottle Depot. Please remove the lid and

rinse.

All other glass can be recycled at Carney’s Recycle Depot

or the landfill. Please remove the lid and rinse.

Fabric (clothing, towels etc.) 

Worn or damaged clothing and bedding can be put in

the Diabetes Canada clothing/textile recycling bins.

Used napkins

Compost tote

Straws

Garbage tote

Plastic toys and hangers

Donate or garbage tote

Plastic bags

Did you know? The following items can go in your recycling tote:

• Kitchen foil and foil trays that are used but still clean
• Metal lids
• Envelopes with window
