Watermain Upgrade Program 2024

This work is now scheduled to begin in June. Work to upgrade and repair select watermains throughout Squamish will begin June 2024. Please note the project sites and impacts below.

Project Sites:

1. Starting June: Mamquam Road: Improving fire flows to the Mamquam East industrial area 

2. Starting July: Tantalus Road: Addressing bottleneck in the system

3. Starting August: Government/Axen Road: Addressing fire flow restrictions to the west

4. Starting September: Thunderbird Ridge: Installation of PRV Chamber

Impact: Please expect:

• Traffic impacts near each area due to excavation work, and possible single-lane alternating traffic change (flaggers will be present during these times).
• Noise from excavation/equipment, dust, and contractor vehicles
• Some street parking restrictions during work
• Water disruption during tie-in to existing system
• Inconsistent road quality and patching work
• Some residential lawn/grass removal in work area

Door notices will be delivered to affected residents prior to any disruption.

Timeline: Through end of summer.
