3D Renderings

The following renderings provide an example of what an upgraded and renovated Brennan Park Recreation Centre could look like.

Renderings were created for Option 1 only. Option 2 would see the location of the new rink and wellness centre reversed. Note these renderings are for illustration purposes only and are not reflective of any final designs.

What is the timeline on this project? I apologize if it is listed on the website. I could not find it. It seems pretty quiet since 2018.

I have worked in many different small communities in Western Canada where there is a large industry or business associated with the town. I noticed these towns often have their rec centers sponsored by businesses or industry. Has there been any talk with Woodfibre, logging companies, mills, the port, or other business in town to invest in the community in this way? Maybe they could get there name on a part of the building (eg: Woodfibre Arena)

Has any consideration been put towards a full size gymnasium(s) where drop in time, intramural sports, leagues, and other activities could be held? (Basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, badminton, etc.). Also, many community rec centers often have squash and racquetball courts, has any thought been put towards including these? I know there is a squash Club but I think there is huge value in having low barrier sports options apart of our rec center and activities for our youth and people in our community.
I think these things would be a hugely beneficial to a wide range of people in Squamish from our youth to older adults and provide an indoor place for activities and community on dark rainy days.

Will you be putting in a splash park? That would be fantastic for children in our community.

I strongly support option 1, which provides increased space and facilities while being financially more affordable than a green field approach. However, I am missing a gym where indoor team games such as basketball can be played. This is sorely missing from the current facility. Especially in the winter and on rainy days, there is a pent-up demand for an indoor gym to allow both scheduled and pick-up games to be played. This will include basketball, but also floor hockey, dodge ball, handball, etc. This would be a fantastic addition to the proposed plan.

I remember the days of the outdoor pool and no arena. Now that it is time to move on I would favour Option 2, reconfiguring and rebuilding what we have. I do not use the Brennan park facilities that much, but I do feel the town needs a recreation facility upgrade. I would hope that some area would be set aside for 'dryland' ski training (my passion) as well as swimming and ice skating. Geriatric programs would also be included I hope.
