Wilson Crescent Neighbourhood Plan

Wilson Crescent Neighbourhood Plan

The District of Squamish is undertaking a “mini” Neighbourhood Plan for the Wilson Crescent neighbourhood (study area shown on the map below).  Residents and property owners are being asked to provide comments about the future of the neighbourhood and to assist the District in developing guidelines for new development. An open house was held on Wednesday, May 23 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Squamish Elementary School library.

Why is this plan being done?

There is considerable interest in redevelopment in this neighbourhood The District has initiated this plan to review the current zoning regulations and to consider whether additional density or housing forms (such as more apartments) are appropriate. The review will also consider requirements for open space, active transportation routes (pedestrian/cycling) and infrastructure upgrades.

What will the plan contain?

A series of planning principles will be developed to guide future development applications.  These may be adopted as an amendment to the Official Community Plan (OCP) or, may be endorsed by Council as a guideline document (but not included in the OCP).

Current Zoning

The map below indicates the current zoning in the neighbourhood which is primarily zoned for multiple unit dwellings (RM-1, RM-2 and RM-3), with some single family residential properties (RS-3).
