Advisory Design Panel
Mandate: The Advisory Design Panel is an independent body that advises Staff and Council concerning the design of all residential multi-family, commercial and industrial buildings located in all Development Permit areas of Squamish (except DP Area No. 1 and DP Area No. 11). The Panel may also make recommendations to Staff and Council with respect to any policies or guidelines established by the District and any other matter referred to the Advisory Design Panel.
Schedule: Meets on the third Thursday of the month as required.

Board of Variance
Mandate: The Board of Variance considers appeals for minor variance to the Zoning Bylaw and rules on appeal applications as set out in Section 899 of the Local Government Act.
The Board is made up of five members who are appointed by Council. Questions regarding the Board of Variance may be directed to the Building Department at 604-815-6872 or to the Board of Variance Secretary at 604-815-5023.
Schedule: Meets the third Wednesday of the month as required.

Seeking Board of Variance Members
Applications are being accepted from those interested in volunteering on the District of Squamish Board of Variance.
The District of Squamish is looking for two new members to fill three-year terms ending December 31, 2028 on the Board of Variance and encourages interested members of the public to submit an application form and resume.
Boards of Variance in B.C. sit to consider applications from property owners requesting variances to zoning and land use bylaws. The Squamish Board of Variance meets quarterly on the third Wednesday of March, June, September, and December at 6:30 p.m., if an application is received. Additional meetings may be scheduled with approval of a sufficient number of board members.
Applicants should complete an application form and submit with their resume.
