Development & Business Licence Fee Bylaw Update

Proposed updates to Business License and Development Fees in the Fees & Charge Bylaw No. 3185, 2025.

Description:

District Staff have undertaken an extensive review of Business License and Development fees for a variety of application types (environment, planning, building, and engineering) and are proposing fee updates to keep up with the cost of delivering these services. New fees were determined by reviewing the average cost of staff time related to the processing of each permit type, as well as other applicable costs, such as the cost to advertise for legislatively required notifications. Fees were then compared to other municipalities in Metro Vancouver and the Sea to Sky regions, as well as other municipalities of a similar size in other parts of BC. Most of the proposed fees have not been updated since 2018 or earlier. These proposed fees have not been presented to Council yet.
 
An Open House will be held at the 55 Activity Centre on April 20, 2026 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Staff from the Environment, Planning, Building, and Engineering departments will be available.
