District of Squamish Acquires Key Property in Downtown Squamish

The District of Squamish is pleased to announce its acquisition of 37966 Cleveland Avenue for the purchase price of $520,000. This 6,000 square foot property is located at the north end of the green space commonly known as Pavillion Park ("Block 19") in downtown Squamish. With the purchase of this key property the entire block between Cleveland Avenue and Loggers Lane from Victoria Street to Main Street is owned by the District of Squamish.

Government Road (Mamquam Road to Garibaldi Way) Construction Update

Phase 1
Dewatering Set-up (July 5th to July 26th)
Single lane alternating traffic (daytime).
Regular two-way traffic (evening)
No parking on District of Squamish road shoulders.
Bike lane on west side of the road is closed.
Foot traffic to use the east side of Government Road.

“Extreme” Fire Hazard Rating Results in District-wide Open Fire Ban

Effective July 15, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. all open fires, including those for cooking, warmth, and ceremonial purposes, are prohibited. The continuation of the hot, dry weather has raised the fire hazard to “Extreme” prompting local fire authorities to place a complete open fire ban throughout the District of Squamish.
