Lift stations decommissioning
Two lift stations along Victoria Street are bring decommissioned and new gravity sanitary sewers installed between Cleveland and Sixth Avenues.
Installation of gravity sewers will increase the efficiency of our sanitary sewer infrastructure. Gravity sewers have a lower operating cost and longer lifespan than lift stations.
Timeframe
Week of June 8 through mid-October
Phase 1- Complete
- Work will begin between Sixth Avenue and Fifth Avenue and work toward Fourth Avenue.
- Single lane alternating traffic in the construction zone.
- Please exercise caution. Watch for signs and follow the directions of traffic control personnel.
- South side sidewalk will be closed.
- 5th Avenue will be open to Winnipeg temporarily during construction only.
Phase 2 - October 30 update
- Surface restoration is ongoing (weather dependent)
- Please expect minor traffic delays.
Project impact
- Dewatering being installed throughThird and Second Avenues.
- No service interruption is anticipated.
