District of Squamish receives $1.1 million in Clean Water and Wastewater funding

The District of Squamish has received federal and provincial funding in the amount of $1,142,246 for water infrastructure improvements. The funding will cover up to 83% of overall project costs. Pamela Goldsmith-Jones, MP for West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky Country, and Jordan Sturdy, MLA for West Vancouver-Sea to Sky, announced yesterday that four new projects in the Sea to Sky corridor have been approved under the Government of Canada’s Clean Water and Waste Water Fund. The project entails:

* 1256m of watermain improvements in Brackendale mostly along Government Road - $1.1M

* Westway #1 Pressure Reducing Valve replacement - $175k

* Powerhouse Springs Well #3 Upgrade - $100k 

The Clean Water and Wastewater grant will support the District of Squamish in maintaining an efficient and sustainable water utility by funding important water system improvements as part of the District's Water Master Plan. Additional details on the projects and construction timing will be shared once confirmed.
