Fallen workers honoured in Squamish Day of Mourning ceremony 2024

Please join us along with the District Labour Committee for the B.C. Day of Mourning ceremony, an annual commemoration of fallen workers in our community, province and country. The ceremony will take place on Sunday, April 28 at 11 a.m. at the U Siyam Pavilion Park Workers’ Monument in Downtown Squamish.

Day of Mourning is a national event organized by labour groups, unions and municipalities across the country who come together to remember those who have lost their lives to work-related incidents or occupational disease. In Squamish, the Workers' Monument in Pavilion Park includes the names of local residents who have lost their lives on the job, including firefighters, loggers, RCMP members and others.

For more information on the Day of Mourning as well as a list of ceremonies throughout the province, visit their website

The District wishes to acknowledge and remember the loss of fallen workers in our community and extends continued condolences to family and friends:
