Rainfall warning in effect through Monday/High Streamflow Advisory issued

A Rainfall Warning is in effect for Howe Sound, with heavy rain expected Sunday night through Monday as a moisture-laden system passes through.

A High Streamflow Advisory has also been issued, meaning that rivers and streams in the area are expected to rise rapidly. View the River Forecast Centre Advisory.

An accumulation of 50 to 70 mm of rain is expected.

Snow, heavy at times this morning, is also expected for the Sea to Sky Highway north of Squamish, and Whistler, before it tapers off to showers this afternoon. More wet snow can be expected Sunday night and Monday morning. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Please take care.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.
