Recycle BC is thrilled to announce that the Squamish DOX Recycling Depot is set to open in Squamish on September 26, 2024. This new facility will offer the residents of Squamish and the surrounding areas a more convenient and efficient way for residents to manage their recyclables, making it easier than ever to contribute to our community’s sustainability efforts.

Update August 14, 2024
The District of Squamish continues to provide guidance to the operator, Squamish DOX, on what steps are necessary to operate a recycling depot.
The District has issued a Temporary Use Permit (TUP) to permit the proposed use on the site. The applicant has also applied for a Business Licence Change for the operation of the depot. The District is looking forward to receiving further information from the applicant in order to satisfy our permitting requirements.
Recycle BC, the depot proponent and the District of Squamish are all working hard to get this to the finish line to resume convenient recycling options for residents. The District is working to support Recycle BC on interim solutions for Squamish residents while a long-term central depot is being established. We thank you for your patience during this time.
All Recycle BC materials continue to be accepted for recycling at the Squamish Landfill. GFL continues to accept some recycling materials not covered by the Recycle BC curbside collection program, including batteries, electronics, lightbulbs and other materials.
The Waste Wizard materials look-up tool allows residents to search for drop-off locations according to material. The tool is available online at https://squamish.ca/waste-diversion or via the Squamish Curbside Collection app.
