Wind warning issued for Howe Sound

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Howe Sound. Strong winds that may cause damage can be expected.

An approaching low pressure centre off Vancouver Island combined with a ridge of high pressure over the B.C. interior is generating strong outflow winds through Howe Sound, especially over southern sections. Strong winds will ease overnight as the low moves to the north.

Gusty winds can damage soft shelters, tents and awnings at outdoor events. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.
