Wind warning issued for Howe Sound

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Howe Sound with strong outflow winds expected to begin late Wednesday night.

Increasing surface pressures are forecast over the southern B.C. Interior Wednesday night. Rising pressures will drive arctic air through coastal valleys and inlets, leading to strong winds. Winds of 70 km/h gusting to 90 are forecast for southern portions of Howe Sound, including Bowen Island, beginning before the early morning hours on Thursday.

Winds will ease somewhat Thursday afternoon but will likely increase again Thursday night.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
