District of Squamish reverts to Stage 2 water restrictions
The District of Squamish has lifted Stage 3 water restrictions that were put in place on Saturday, June 26 due to high water consumption and flow capacity concerns brought on by extreme heat. The District has reverted to Stage 2 water restrictions in order to effectively manage increased seasonal outdoor water demand.
Stage 2 divides the community into seven areas, and provides each area with one day upon which they can water with a sprinkler:
- Monday - Valleycliffe, Hospital Hill
- Tuesday - Downtown
- Wednesday - Dentville, Business Park, North Yards
- Thursday - Loggers Lane/ Finch Drive, Quest University
- Friday - Garibaldi Highlands
- Saturday - Garibaldi Estates
- Sunday - Brackendale
Even numbered addresses: 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Odd numbered addresses: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Watering with a hand-held container or device with automatic shut-off is allowed on any day between 6 to 9 a.m. and 7 to 10 p.m. Tip: Invest in a reasonably priced timer ($15 to $40 at local hardware stores) to pre-set your sprinkler the night before your designated watering day.
