High Streamflow Advisory issued for Howe Sound and Sea to Sky
The River Forecast Centre has issued a High Streamflow Advisory for Howe Sound, Sea to Sky and surrounding areas. Rain on the South Coast is expected to extend into Friday, with an estimated 50-130+mm on the South Coast. Temperatures are not expected to rise significantly; snowmelt from rain-on-snow is not anticipated.
During the current municipal labour dispute, essential workers remain available for weather related work due to the Essential Services Order from the Labour Relations Board.
Rivers are expected to rise rapidly on Thursday and into Friday in response to heavy rainfall. Rivers in the area may experience enhanced hazard for high flow during this period. While these levels may not be high enough for specific flood concerns, high flows and rapid rises in rivers can pose a hazard for road washouts and public safety for recreationalists.
At this time of year leaves can clog storm drains and impact drainage. Help to keep storm drains clear around your property.
Stay tuned to the River Forecast Centre for updates.
