Official Community Plan

After more than 24 months of visioning, policy review, drafting and continuous public engagement with hundreds of Squamish residents aged 8 to 80, the District of Squamish Official Community Plan (OCP) update process is complete. 

The OCP was adopted on June 5, 2018 (read the Report to Council)The Official Community Plan bylaw and  land use schedules are available on the District's Civic Web site.

Bylaw 2500, 2017 Readings

OCP Bylaw No. 2500, 2017 was given First Reading by the District of Squamish on December 12, 2017.

OCP Bylaw No. 2500, 2017 was given Second Reading as amended on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. Click to view the staff report and Schedule A policies (with changes tracked).

At Council’s April 17 2018 Regular Business Meeting, OCP Bylaw 2500, 2017 received Third Reading, with minor amendments.

The Bylaw's Regional Context Statement (RCS) received approval by the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) on May 23, 2018.


 

Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 2500, 2017, Amendment Bylaw (General Amendments) No. 2630, 2018 

The District of Squamish is considering OCP General Amendments Bylaw 2630, 2018 to address a number of errors, omissions and opportunities for improvement identified during the OCP approvals process, to be initiated following adoption of Bylaw 2500. Amendments include edits to Section 9 Growth Management, Section 10 Natural Environment, Section 17 Squamish Business Park, Section 29 Land Use Plan, Section 26 Development Permit Area 3: Universal Guidelines, as well as Schedule B (Land Use) and Schedule M (DPA: Form & Character). The proposed amending Bylaw will be initially considered at the September 4, 2018 Regular Meeting of Council. The Bylaw and Staff Report can be viewed on the Council Agenda here.
