Who Needs a Licence

All dogs over 8 weeks must be licensed and wear a valid tag.
Licences expire December 31 each year.

How to Get a Licence

  • Online:  Online Services page (“New Dog Licence Application”) OR
  • In person: at Municipal Hall (37955 Second Avenue)

You'll need: proof from a veterinarian that your dog is spayed or neutered. 

Good to know:

  • Dog licence tags are permanent. You will not get a new tag each year.
  • You must renew your dog licence annually. You will receive an invoice at the end of the year.
  • If you provide proof of spay or neuter later in the year, you may qualify for a partial refund:
    • Before July 1: $25
    • After July 1: $12.50

To apply online or manage licences, you’ll need a MyCity account.

With a MyCity account you can:

  • Register a new dog ownership account
  • Register/add dog licences to your dog ownership account
  • Apply for a replacement dog tag (no duplicate tags available)
  • Apply for Spay/Neuter fee discount (documentation required)
  • Apply for Seniors fee discount
  • Inactivate a Dog Licence

If your dog has passed away or is no longer with you, please notify Community Bylaw Services by either email or by calling 604-815-5067. so we can update our records and save you from receiving unnecessary notices in the future.

    Online payment system
    . Use the account number on your invoice. (Contact Bylaw if you don't have one)
  • By Mail
    Mail the bottom part of the invoice and a cheque to: 
    District of Squamish, PO Box 310, Squamish, BC, V8B 0A3
  • After Hours Drop Box
    Municipal Hall, 37955 Second Avenue.
    Cheque only. Do not leave cash in the drop box.
    The yellow drop box is on the wall to the right of the main doors.
  • In Person
    • Municipal Hall, 37955 Second Avenue
      Cash, credit, debit or cheque at the finance counter to the left of the main doors.
      Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

    • RCMP Detachment front counter, 1000 Finch Drive
      Cash, credit, debit or cheque.
      Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
