The District of Squamish Public Art Policy supports the development of public art in Squamish. The Policy establishes the roles of the District and the Public Art Advisor (Squamish Arts Council) and outlines processes surrounding the acquisition, enhancement, and protection of public art in Squamish.
In July 2020, the District of Squamish Public Art Policy was updated to include the role of the Public Art Advisor. Since then the District has entered into an agreement with the Squamish Arts Council, who have taken on the role of the Public Art Advisor, in accordance with the Public Art Policy.
The Public Art Advisor has replaced the previous Public Art Select Committee, and run an annual structured public art program. The Public Art Advisor’s is to activate public spaces through the installation of public art.
From 2015 to 2020, a Public Art Select Committee provided oversight of the Public Art Policy, including the development of the Public Art Priorities. Click here to view the minutes of the previous Public Art Select Committee.
